About Us

sENSIBUILD lTD

We are a well established family run home improvement and construction company based in Kent.  We take on a wide variety of projects and have a team in place to handle everything, from the initial consultation, design, drawings, surveys, planning, the build through to the final finishing and decoration.

I am Kevin Phillips, the founder and passion behind Sensibuild.  I started my working career as a chef, gaining recognition in the Egon Ronay Good Food Guide.  Fate steered me into the kitchen industry, where my knowledge and background as a chef, coupled with my natural creative flare ensured a successful fit and a new, very rewarding career.  I spent years designing and fitting kitchens. Those were the days before modern technology and 3D modeling and all my designs were drawn and coloured by hand.

The 1980s recession hit the industry hard and the company I worked for was forced to close down, prompting me to take the plunge and start my own business, as a sole trader, with nothing but bags of enthusiasm and a determination to succeed.

Kevin Phillips

I succeeded despite the difficult economic climate and after 30 odd years it was time for the company to grow and change its business model, from a sole trader to a limited company.  I realized that I had to take on a more managerial role within the business and surround myself with a reliable, trustworthy team who believed in and supported the values of good customer care, that had become the cornerstone of the business.

My son Stewart had enjoyed good success working for Howdens and gaining experience as a project manager for a property developer and was keen to add this skillset to the family business.  He brought with him a wealth of experience, creativity and talent and Sensibuild Ltd was established in 2015.

We started this journey with a focus on kitchens and this grew to encompass every aspect of the building trade.  We have an exciting future planned for Sensibuild and look forward to having you along on that journey.

We have used Sensibuild before for a bathroom renovation. This time they completely re-decked our entire garden. From start to finish this renovation was as stress free as it could be. Communication was faultless with Dennis answering every email and getting back to me even to let me know he needed to check on something, which we love. The constant and consistent contact with him and Stewart was brilliant and very reassuring.

The people who have previously worked on our house from Sensibuild have always been great at what they do and put us completely at ease, the team tasked with this task were no exception. They were all very professional and polite, they worked cleanly and efficiently and we would definitely use them again.

For the first time in the two years that we have been at this property, and perhaps ever since we have had our own houses, we have been able to sit outside and actually enjoy being in our garden and we cannot thank Kevin enough for making that happen. Superb guy, amazing company and would not use or recommend anyone else.
